Clive Nicol HND. (Mech.)

After graduating with a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Clive joined Factory Mutual Engineering as a Fire Protection engineer. Here he gained considerable insurance engineering experience in the USA, Canada, the Far East and Europe. He has a wide experience of FM and NFPA standards, gained during this period. In 1975 he joined the Commercial Union Risk Management Division working with them for 17 years, on a wide variety of International Risk Engineering projects.

He has reviewed, particularly in relation to Fire Protection and Prevention, many industrial processes covering a wide spectrum throughout the world. Clive has also been involved in advising clients in insurance, reinsurance and captive insurance on the implementation of Risk Control programmes. His previous experience has enabled him to recommend fire protection and prevention schemes, taking into account the most practical and cost effective systems, whilst utilising an innovative approach and at the same time taking into account the use, where relevant, of the best International Standards.

Clive has considerable experience of carrying out risk engineering reviews for insurance purposes, including not only Property Damage, but Boiler and Machinery and Business Interruption coverages. He has applied this in such varied industries as telecommunications, electronics, motor and vehicle manufacturing and textiles.
After spending over a year with a major international risk management organisation Clive joined Suregrove as an Engineering Consultant in 1993.
